Health + Innovation Hub (HIH)
The Health + Innovation Hub (HIH) project at the Business + Innovation Center Kaiserslautern (bic) strengthens skills, further development and digitalization of the healthcare sector in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Project Management: Laura Schwehm
Project Details
The healthcare sector is the engine and revenue driver for the German economy. The healthcare growth segment faces numerous challenges: demographic change, the shortage of skilled workers, medical undersupply, especially in rural areas.
In order to meet these and other challenges, the HIH forms the interface in knowledge transfer between existing findings and prototypes from research and technology development and medical providers. This makes the hub the institution in Rhineland-Palatinate (RLP) for transferring the latest medical and technological research findings as healthcare solutions into everyday healthcare practice. The focus is on networking and harnessing regional expertise in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), digitalization, visualization and process optimization. By integrating regional partners and their specific expertise, initial thematic focuses and application scenarios are defined. This will lay the foundations for a modular innovation ecosystem in the healthcare sector. The aim is to quickly create a sustainable and scalable model in order to bind further innovation drivers and technology partners to the location and create an infrastructure. This infrastructure accelerates and enables the transfer of pilot projects into real-life healthcare practice.
The project is funded by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Science and Health. The project started on 1 January 2023 with the long-term goal of realizing the Health and Innovation Hub (HIH) in the innovation ecosystem in Kaiserslautern based on the knowledge gained from the implementation concept.
Potential partners can currently still join the project and help shape its content. If you are interested, please contact the project manager Laura Schwehm, laura.schwehm@bic-kl.de .
